AIIB Global Internship Program

GLOBAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Your first step into development finance.

AIIB’s Global Internship Program gives highly motivated students and recent graduates hands-on experience at one of the fastest growing multilateral development banks. The program offers a unique opportunity for highly motivated individuals to work alongside experienced professionals in a multicultural environment, contribute to projects and initiatives that matter, and gain extensive and unique perspectives on infrastructure finance.

Hands-on project work

Engage directly with AIIB’s operations and engage in work that will produce tangible outputs with institutional value.

Professional development

Work alongside experienced professionals in a multicultural environment and learn how an AAA-rated multilateral operates.

Multilateral development bank exposure

Understand the unique challenges and opportunities of infrastructure financing in Asia, gaining the kind of institutional knowledge that cannot be taught in a classroom.

A professional network

Build connections with industry leaders and experts across international development, infrastructure, and finance – relationships that will echo throughout your career.

Choose the internship type that fits your goals.

The Global Internship Program offers two distinct formats – one built around project execution, one around research depth.

Corporate internship

For interns who want to execute.

The Corporate internship is designed to immerse students in project-based work to address AIIB’s key business needs. You will either collaborate with a small team or independently manage a defined assignment with a real deliverable at the end.

  • Collaborative project teams of two to three interns pitch and execute innovative solutions to live business challenges within AIIB.
  • Independently manage and deliver a specific assignment with tangible outcomes for a defined business area.

Research internship

For interns who want to apply academic rigor to real institutional questions.

The Research internship is a flexible, research-intensive pathway. It can be conducted remotely or in person and is focused on producing comprehensive research and targeted deliverables over an extended period.

  • Flexible remote or in-person format that works around academic commitments, enabling you to contribute to AIIB’s strategic goals wherever you are.
  • Specialist research focus, ideal for doctoral and master’s students with deep expertise in areas aligned with AIIB’s institutional priorities.

What AIIB provides

We want interns to focus on projects, not on logistics. AIIB provides financial support to make this possible for candidates from anywhere in the world.

  • USD90 per workday stipend for the duration of the internship
  • Round-trip flight to Beijing for eligible in-person interns joining at headquarters
